Our Story Up to 2019

Claire with therapy dog

Hello and welcome to Hinckley Chummies.

My name is Claire and I have always adored and been passionate about animals and their welfare, particularly dogs, having grown up around them.  I have over 30 years experience!

Over the years I have owned cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, a tortoise, rescue hens and of course, dogs and puppies (at one time, I owned 13; now I currently own a small pack).

I have trained all of my dogs and puppies myself, was a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder, did some showing with one of my puppies and I also trained and handled my own therapy dog.

I also have experience of goats and sheep.

I have successfully passed dog handling assessments for the Police and for Pets as Therapy.

After working for a local dog walking and pet care business, I decided to set up Hinckley  Chummies, to provide flexible regular and one-off dog walking and home visits for dogs, puppies, cats and other animals in and around the Hinckley area.

The name ‘Chummies’ was chosen as this is the nickname I affectionately call my own dogs.

I am qualified in dog first aid and emergency canine care, studied animal welfare, cat and dog psychology, DBS checked and insured.

I aim to comply with the Professional Dog Walkers’ Guidelines as endorsed by the Dogs Trust, RSPCA and the Pet Industry Federation

My air conditioned van is fully equipped with purpose built cages, for the safety and comfort of transported dogs (signwritten by Wigston Signs and Graphics).

Please get in touch if you have a pet care requirement – I am sure I will be able to help.
